* ICML working on bringing the Haval H5 SUV to India
Indian Automotive company ICML, credited with the Sonalika Rhino MUV, is planning on introducing Chinese car manufacturer, Great Wall Motors’ Haval H5 SUV into the Indian market. The Haval H5 if launched in India will be third Chinese SUV to make it into the Indian market with the Premier Rio (Zotye Nomad) and the Force One (Guangdong Foday Explorer) being the other two.
The Haval H5 is also known as the Hover and X240 in other markets and sports an upmarket exterior styling. The Haval H5 is available in 5 and 7 seater options with a choice of both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol unit is a 2.4-litre oil burner that churns out 134bhp and 20.3kgm of torque while the diesel counterpart is a 2 litre common rail diesel engine that uses a variable geometry turbocharger and is capable of delivering 150bhp and 310Nm of torque.
ICML will be working on bringing in the diesel powered variant considering the soaring petrol prices and also the fact that diesel SUV’s outsell petrol ones. The new Haval H5 will be pitted against the likes of the Mahindra XUV500, Tata Aria and Force One in the Indian market.
Although exact launch plans are yet to be announced, expect the new SUV from ICML to hit the Indian market sometime late 2012 or early 2013 carrying a price tag of around Rs. 10 lakh.
